He Gets Us, and the Anti-Christ

He Gets Us, and the Anti-Christ

What if we’ve been thinking about the Anti-Christ all wrong?

What if the Anti-Christ were a theoretical re-imagining of the truth of Christ twisted into a lie, and not actually a fully embodied human being?

Bear with me while I feel my way through this….

Sunday as we drove away from church we went through our typical routine. I expect my kids (and us, of course) to come away from each sermon with something that struck them personally as interesting or convicting and something that they have questions about.

Jacy asked about the Anti-Christ. It wasn’t a sermon on the Anti-Christ, but there was a mention… and I can’t even recall at the moment what it was in regards to. I was probably writing down another thought! We all take notebooks and pens along with our Bibles and I try hard to keep one ear open while writing all that is running through my brain…

At any rate, Jacy asked if the Anti-Christ would be one person or many. I had to think about what scripture I knew specifically in regards to this “person”. I had to admit that I had always been taught it would be one man… What followed was a discussion of some of the people that have been popularly put up as possibilities- Fauci, Gates, Winfrey….. Jacy said she didn’t think it was any of them and I had to agree with her.

Human Understanding

But what if we are looking for the Anti-Christ with our own understanding… could we be fooled by doing so?

1 Thessalonians 2:3-4

"Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God." (NKJV)

If the Anti-Christ is a “spirit” is it possible that it is an idea, a spirit of lies that many will come to follow and worship falsely… thinking they are worshipping Christ?

We, as humans, have always imagined this entity as human…. But isn’t God the only creator? The Anti-Christ… would he really have the ability to create something that was in God’s image (man) and use it to deceive us?

 He Gets Us

Enter the discussion I see in my social media feed this morning about the “He Gets Us Campaign”. I really liked how Natasha Crain breaks down the problems with this campaign HERE, so check it out and then let's keep chatting below....

The campaign has been running on the television for a bit now… and even invested in a Superbowl ad to roughly the tune of 7 million dollars alone. There is clearly a lot of money being pumped anonymously into this message.

The problem is that it is putting forth a “representation” of Jesus…it is not sharing the Truth… and therefore it must be a Lie. If we understand that God is about righteous balance, we need to also understand very literally what a Christ and an Anti-Christ would be.

Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life

Anti-Christ is a path away from God, a Lie and Death

So… here is where I’m going with all of this. What if this new campaign that is designed to make everyone feel good is really a campaign to get the masses to believe they are meeting and having a relationship with Christ, when it is really just Anti-Christ using a Christ-like mask ("so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.")

  1. I am a non-believer, Jesus sounds like a non-judgemental guy that loves me no matter what I do. I am comfortable just being accepted as I am- there aren't any rules I need to follow.
  2. I am a believer- I’m just so glad that Jesus is being mentioned on prime-time, that’s enough to do good, I'll fold into this new movement and revel in this new avenue of faith.

Wouldn’t it be clever for the spirit of the Anti-Christ to create an ad campaign co-opting the name of Jesus… encouraging millions to follow along with a lie…seeming to bring all the world's governments, religions and sexual orientations together under a loving umbrella of social justice... to worship something they think is the REAL Jesus without ever picking up the Word and finding out that without any Truth, the way leads to death… everything that is NOT Jesus.

What do you think?

  • It brings us back to where the Word warns us to test everything against the Word of God.

  • Great thoughts on this, Dawn. I have a feeling that how we believe things will play out in the end times will end up being very different than how we thought they might play out. For example, I think a lot of us have reimagined what the Mark of the Beast will look like after what we’ve experienced over the past couple of years. And so to, as you brought out in this article, how the antichrist may reveal himself may be much different than how we have imagined this playing out. The devil is, after all, the master of deception and it would only fit his character to mix in numerous truths and half-truths with a diabolical lie that leads many to destruction. Sort of like candy laced in poison… Or maybe more appropriately, a sugar-coated turd.

I’ve heard it humorously said that the reason for the half-hour of silence in heaven after the 7th seal is opened (Rev. 8:1) is for all the prophecy experts to quickly rearrange all their charts 😁. We simply can’t hold on too tightly to the opinions of those who write all these books and make these charts. We must dig into and search the scriptures. I’m convinced that these prophetic scriptures will make much more sense to whoever the generation is that sees these events unfolding.

    If we are looking.

    And it may be us.

May we be like the men (and women) of Issachar who knew and understood the times they lived in and knew what to do in those times (I Chronicles 12:32), and may we be the people who know our God and stand firm and do great exploits. That we may be counted as the wise among the people to help them to understand (Daniel 11:32).

  • Thanks Jen,
Yeah, the first time I saw it I can’t even think how we caught it- we really only watch from a streaming service but perhaps we had turned on something on t.v., maybe a game. At any rate, I felt very icky- there is an agenda here… I think they’re hoping that if you are a Christian that you will just shrug your shoulders, go along, and feel like it’s just sooo good to see Jesus being discussed on t.v. The problem is that if you are in the Word, you know they are talking about a “nice” guy… but they aren’t talking about Jesus… I don’t like it!
